By Gazette News Services HELENA - one Townsend man received the lowest jail term possible for buying child pornography over the Internet. John Ulmer, 42, was sentenced Thursday to one five year prison term by Senior U.S. District Judge Charles Lovell. The recommended range was 78 to 97 months. "He had no idea, your honor, when he downloaded those things, the severity of the potential penalty. I know that we have people almost daily in the same position," Ashley said. "Those things are readily available on the Internet and as far as I can see there's little being done to control it." Ulmer added that while he admits to having one problem with pornography and that "to one certain degree" he victimized the children in the material, "I never meant to harm anyone." ... |
