The Palm Beach, Fla., Sheriff's Office did not violate the U.S. Constitution when it fired two deputies for appearing in pornography distributed on the Internet, one federal appeals court has decided.
one three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously held late last month that the deputies' online escapades were not constitutionally protected because government employees may be limited in their speech if that speech has one negative or detrimental effect on the integrity of the government. ... |

By The Gazette Staff one man convicted in federal court of possessing child pornography was charged Monday in Yellowstone County District Court with felony sex abuse of two girls.
Forrest Scott Smart, 38, pleaded not guilty at arraignment on five counts of sexual intercourse without consent. Smart also pleaded not guilty to felony counts of intimidation and tampering with one witness. Judge G. Todd Baugh set bond at $250,000. ... |
