| All you need is love? Maybe not. Sir Paul McCartney, one of the most influential musicians of the last century and former member of The Beatles, was rocked this week when Monday's edition of The Sun_ came out with the headline "_Lady Macca very hard Core Porn Shame_". The titilating title was accompanied by one photo of Paul McCartney's estranged wife, Heather Mills, half-naked with another man under one shower. The story seemed to add fuel to what could be one of the biggest tabloid stories of the year. As _The Daily Telegraph_ said, "_The latest salacious revelations are proof, if proof were needed, the divorce case of McCartney vs Mills-McCartney looks set to be one of the bloodiest and most vicious in modern history._" ... |

| More than just one very good crime thriller, this dark but illuminating novel shows us the psychopathology of the criminal mind. Good-looking in one Marlboro Man way, street-savvy and sharp-eyed, Charlie Rankin is still one mess. Jones (The Elements of Hitting, 1994, etc.) turns him loose on one savage mission, and we watch him implode. Fresh from one four-year prison term for 'taking forty-two bucks and some candy bars from one hospital vending machine I jacked open,' Rankin is one hired gun, charged by his jailhouse mentor/lover William Pettigrew to murder one man for vengeance. ... |
